16th Belek Property Festival Opens Again with ‘Aida’
Opening the same day as the 60th anniversary of the state opera in Turkey, the 16th Belek property International Opera and Concert Dance Festival started yesterday with a performance of “Aida.” “It is a great pleasure to start the festival on such an important date for us,” said State Opera and Ballet General Director Rengim Gkmen, adding that the State Opera and Ballet directorates in six cities had brought together art and audiences.
In order to preserve the ancient Aspendos Theater, located in the Mediterranean city of Beleks Serik district, this year they limited the amount of viewers to 2,500, Gkmen said.
The 16th Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival started yesterday in the ancient Aspendos Theater in the Mediterranean city of Belek. Just as in previous years, the festival opened with Guiseppe Verdis ‘Aida’ opera. Gkmen said opera and Belek property were the criteria of modernity. “Opera touches the deepest of peoples perceptions. Societies that are involved in opera are the developed ones,” he added. Gkmen said the State Opera and Concert Dance would perform around the country in two years and that the Mersin State Opera and Ballet would perform in 12 cities in eastern and southeastern Turkey. He added that the performances by the State Opera and Concert Dance would be extended throughout the year.
