Guiding a Reinvention: Medical Wigs for Living with Natural Confidence

The majority of us never imagined the incredible Chandra Upton, our family friend, might someday own and wear lace front wigs. Her signature long black hair flowed in sync with her mystique. But surprise surprise. The woman will be eternally known because of her impeccable looks. Only a handful of souls know she lives confidently wearing lace front wigs. Keep it on the DL.

When we were youths finding our way in Arizona, we used to had our picks of boys. In our twenties her women’s hair loss kicked in and she became nearly bald. I hinted about a few lace front wigs. But you know, balding was no big deal to her. Even on bad days she somewhat obnoxiously unveiled her bald-headed look.

Obliged to show at our alma mater’s golf competition, we taunted the players until some kluts clumsily kicked the puck (or whichever thing that is) at us. She went to grab it and her bandana flew right off, uncovering her hair (or lack thereof). As though nothing were amiss, she tossed the ball to the game official. What’d I tell ya about her spunk?

Of course, there’s two sides to every coin. One time at our semi-monhtly cookie baking marathon, where she grabbed my arm and informed me that she prefers to do without hair out of bitterness. She dare not look at medical wigs, secretly acknowledging she wanted her hair back. She then she stopped talking and requested that I dismiss the notion. I didn’t know what to say.

There was no way to get her words out of my head. Shortly after, I talked about getting her a new wig. After a long deliberation we both ended up with the perfect solution: lace front wigs for all! I used my credit card, and it was worth it.

She and I were bewildered by the wide selection of hair colors, textures and styles. She didn’t realize that synthetic wigs were so professionally crafted for so many women. These women’s wigs complimented her natural beauty. I arranged an entirely new ensemble to match my wig. We’re inseparable, but you knew that already. The other day she sent me her thanks for giving her back her hair, and confessed it fosters a real positive image for many occasions. It’s encouraging to see her strut her stuff like never before. We both are.
